Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. She relocated to Oxfordshire in the year she turned five when she enrolled in her first Dragon School. Emma made the decision to become an actor in the age of six. For several years, she attended the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing along with dancing, as well as acting. At the age of 10, she performed as well as taken part in a variety of Stagecoach performances and school plays. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone as well as Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been cast in these roles. They cast her alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was also the most successful film in 2001. Opening weekday and weekend revenues were record-breaking. Many critics have praised the film and the performances given by three of the main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's acting "amazing". Emma's performance received nominations and received five awards for the movie.
